Complete Curved Deck Transformation

When the homeowners first began looking for a builder, they quickly discovered that this wasn't a typical deck replacement. The existing deck featured a large curved design, and the project required far more than simply replacing the old timber. In fact, two other building companies had already looked at the job and decided it was too difficult.

The project began with the careful removal of the existing handrails, decking and base boards. With the old structure stripped back, our team was able to prepare the framework for the next stage of the renovation. One of the biggest improvements involved raising the deck so it sat level with the home's internal floor. While this sounds like a simple change, it made a huge difference to both the appearance and functionality of the space.
By eliminating the step down from the house, the new deck now provides a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor living areas. Not only does this improve accessibility, but it also creates the feeling of one large entertaining space that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Before
To ensure the finished deck was built to last, additional timber was installed along the front of the deck to provide solid fixing points for the new base boards. Every stage of the build was carefully measured and constructed to ensure the curved design remained true while maintaining the highest level of structural integrity.
Once the framework was complete, stunning new Kwila decking was installed across the entire deck, including the access ramp. Known for its exceptional durability, natural beauty and ability to withstand New Zealand's climate, Kwila was the perfect choice for this project. Its rich timber tones instantly lifted the appearance of the home while creating a warm and inviting outdoor entertaining area.
To complete the transformation, new premium pine base boards were installed beneath the deck, giving the structure a clean and polished finish.. New gates were also built and installed, complementing the overall design while improving both functionality and safety.
