Steve Marshall, owner of Marshall Builders, first stepped into the building industry in his late teens, inspired by his dad, who always knew he had a natural talent for it. As a kid, Steve was forever tinkering in his dad’s shed, exploring tools and creating things long before he realised building was his path. Although he once doubted his maths skills, he soon discovered that great building goes far beyond numbers.

He completed his apprenticeship under a builder who set incredibly high standards, shaping Steve’s commitment to excellence. After gaining valuable experience, he moved to Nelson to pursue his craft and build a career he genuinely loved. Since then, he has worked on everything from high-end renovations to architectural new homes, always with a strong focus on detail, communication, and delivering real value for clients. Steve and his team genuinely care about the people they work with, priding themselves on being open, honest, and professional throughout the entire process.

Outside of building, Steve can usually be found soaking up the outdoors — hunting, tramping, or playing hockey with his team. He also enjoys time with his family, playing the piano, and getting lost in a good book.
